The Fascination with Remote Control Helicopters

Are you facscinated by remote control helicopters? Well I am and I can tell you for a fact, that RC helicopters are fun, exciting and challenging to fly. During the learning process it will take some time to learn concentration and practice that are important to making successful flights with your miniature craft. If you stick in there, your dedication will pay off and you will really get to enjoy the amazing potential that remote controlled helis can deliver. Before you begin your flying missions, it is important to choose the right model. You need to select a heli that is not too advanced for you, otherwise you will quickly become disappointed. Do not worry about the expense of upgrading later on once you master the skills of flying. The costs of these small gadgets is so small that it will not even matter. The most advanced, multi-role heli in the world goes for less than $100.

Remote control helicopters come in many designs. The main difference however between them is the fixed pitch or FP and the collective pitch or CP. The fixed pitch is controlled by a 4-channel system and is ideal for one who only requires easy fun flying. This however does not mean that these helis have less superior flying capabilities. 4-channel remote control helicopters are fully controllable and can fly in all directions. The up and down movements are controlled by use of the power input. A decrease or an increase will result in upward and downward movement. Collective pitch models have a 6-channel control system. This means that they offer more maneuverability and responsiveness. This is made possible from the fact that the blade pitch and the rotation speeds can be change at will. While these are generally harder to setup and fly, they offer greater aerobatic capabilities.

Some models of remote control helicopters are ideal for learning the basics of flying such as hovering and turning circuits and can even be flown indoors. Most of these helis have tough plastic blades able to absorb inevitable impacts. Transmitter controls allow flyers the collective and throttle control, the control of the tail rotor and the pitch and roll. Most of the maneuvers that can be performed using these flyers is through the coordination of these controls. In fact you will realize that some maneuvers can be performed which many full-sized helicopters cannot do. If you are uneasy about flying the real thing, spend some time on the flight simulator and once you feel competent enough to fly the real thing, take it to the air.
