There are many times when you need to know the temperature. Some use a mercury thermometer, though they are becoming scarce, or you may have gotten a digital one that works quickly and is much less dangerous. A broken glass thermometer and a mouthful of mercury is a very bad situation. You can also get newer forms of this type of temperature measurements in the form of thermometers that measure temps in the ears and even across the forehead.

When it comes to checking on your heating and cooling systems, there is a neat tool that you can use for temperature measurements. This is a small gun shaped tool that has a laser dot that you can aim anywhere in your room. When you hold it steady, it gives you a temp reading for that very spot in the room. You can use this to see if your heating and cooling systems are working as they should. If the temps are more than five degrees away from your thermostat settings, you may have some problems that may need to be addressed. You may find this tool to be a bit more expensive than other types of temperature measurement devices that you buy for other reasons, but you will find it to be very useful in saving money throughout the year.
