Stationary paper
It is hard for me to explain how much good paper stationery matters to me. I can not stand writing unless I have stationary paper. I was not always like this. I have actually spoiled myself over the last several years. I used to be a poet who would write on anything. I would write poems on pieces of cardboard boxes, napkins, and on walls if nothing else was available. I did not really care as long as I could put pen to paper or at least to something that would hold ink. Then I got a calligraphy set for my 15th birthday. At first, I thought it was a stupid present. My parents were always trying to get me to improve my penmanship, and I knew that the stationary paper was just a ploy to get me to take some pride in my writing skills. The funny thing is that it worked.
There was nothing like using that stationary set. For writers, there is something very sensual about the process of writing. The feel of the strokes of the letters, even if you have horrible handwriting and are only writing on cardboard, is still quite pleasing and fascinating. When I was writing with a calligraphy pen on personalized stationary paper, however, it was better than that. It was better than anything I had ever felt before, as a matter of fact. Perhaps i am overstating the case now, but at the time it blew my mind. I learned how to write calligraphy on the stationary paper, and since then I have hated using anything but the best paper products.
I do still enjoy using my computer word processor, but even my word processing habits have changed. Nowadays, I like to print things out on stationary letterhead. When I was younger, I used to print out my text on plain white printer paper. Anytime I had something to add it, I would make a couple copies of it, carrying them around with me and making changes. Nowadays, however, I am much more careful with my editing habits. After all, good stationary paper is expensive.
If you have never used stationary writing paper report, my descriptions would probably strike you as improbable at best and ridiculous at worse. I know they would have struck me the same way before I realized how cool it is. You should really try it out yourself before you make judgments. It is worth your while.
