Room Design – Information On Area Rugs
Most of the time, I have a pretty good eye for decoration. I can usually look at my house and figure out exactly what it needs to make any room look perfect. Lately, however, I have been having some very serious troubles. I moved into a new house that was a lot bigger than my old residence. Although it is nice to have some more room, I have had difficult deciding how to fill it up. I thought about getting more furniture, but it just seemed like a waste. What is the point of buying expensive the furniture just to take up space? For a while, it seemed like I would not be able to solve the problem. My house was destined to remain too empty, looking vacant and unfriendly. Then I discovered area rugs. They were the perfect solution.
I have admired Oriental rugs from afar for a long time, but I had never actually bought one before. I could not justify buying an Oriental area rug, you see. They seemed so overpriced, and what is the point of having a work of art that you are going to step on day after day? Still, I decided that I was just being neurotic. After all, I did not like plain wool carpeting, and I enjoyed my wooden floors too much to cover them up entirely anyway. Area rugs were the perfect way to divide up the space, leaving the house roomy while still making it a little bit less barren.
Of course, picking out the right area rugs was another matter altogether. It was pretty frustrating, to tell you the truth. As hard as it is to take out wall-to-wall carpeting, it is even harder to pick out an area rug. It is very difficult to predict how it will change the space once you put it in your house. The same rug that might look great on display at a store might be a little bit jarring in its effect once you add it to your house.
Not surprisingly, the first couple area rugs I bought were not quite perfect for the room. At first I was disappointed, but then I realized that they would make great tapestry. I had walls that needed decorations, so I put both of them up. After that, I had a better idea of what I was looking for. It was only a matter of making a few more shopping trips. Now, my house looks better than it ever did before.
