Therefore as a restaurant owner, location of your restaurant can determine if your business will thrive or it will flop. Here I will give you some restaurant advice on choosing a restaurant site. Assuming that you have been leased a space for a proposed restaurant site. What are some factors to consider before setting up the restaurant? We are going to assume that the location has the demographics and traffic patterns just right for a restaurant.

Start by visualizing the restaurant on its new location. This means that you will need to measure the space and verify it is as advertised. This piece of restaurant advice is important since getting additional square footage that you are not going to use can incur additional costs, even years after signing the lease. On the other, ensure that the space is large enough to set up the restaurant. This means calculating the footage-per-square requirements. There are also other things to consider surrounding the restaurant.

One of these is the availability of an alley. Deliveries can be made through the front door, but this is usually not desirable. An alley will allow trucks to bring deliveries, take the trash out and other back door activity. As a piece of restaurant advice, lack of an alley can be reason enough do disqualify a restaurant site. Thus, ensure that you take this into consideration. Consider also where the exhaust duct will be positioned. Is there space to allow the duct to go straight on the roof? Each additional floor above the restaurant makes the exhausting of kitchen equipment complex and expensive. In fact, some buildings with no mechanical chase installed during the construction may not allow setting up of a restaurant. And of course this is common restaurant advice; cities do not allow installation of ductwork on the exterior of buildings for reasons of appearances.

Toilets and the floor will also be important considerations for a proposed restaurant site. Will there be enough space for their fixtures and if so how many? Will you cover the costs of the installations or will the landlord provide for that? Think also of the floor. Will some type of plumbing be needed, say for floor sinks and so on? Who will cover the cost? While all the above will demand an investment of your time, it plays an important part to the success of your operation. Give thought to the above restaurant advice and use it before starting your restaurant business.
