Refurbished Cell Phones

If youre looking for a new phone but you feel like youve already spent too much money on phone service, refurbished cell phones are a cheaper alternative. Many cell phone services provide the option of purchasing a refurbished cell phone instead of a new one. Before you make your purchase, there are a few factors to consider when deciding whether a refurbished phone is right for you.

What exactly are refurbished cell phones? A refurbished cell phone is essentially a used phone. Its a phone that was returned during its 30 day warranty period and got a bit of a makeover. Its been tested to make sure it works and its updated with the latest software so that it still works in present day. Since the phone had a previous owner, its available at a fraction of the original price.

Refurbished cell phones are a good choice for the cell phone customer that wants to save money and doesnt necessarily care about having the latest model. Companies are always constantly releasing new models of their phones and so phones get obsolete pretty quickly. If you dont care that your phone isnt brand spanking new and that someone elses ear was on it, then get a refurbished cell phone. After being restored it should be in working, clean condition. But if you absolutely need your phone to work and you dont want this situation to come up, then a new cell phone might be better for you.

However, some customers have expressed displeasure about refurbished cell phones theyve purchased. Sometimes they simply dont work even though theyre supposed to, and while companies will replace a malfunctioning phone, its a pain to go through all that hassle. And the warranty lasts for 90 days, so if your phone breaks on the 91st day, then youre out of luck. So basically, refurbished cell phones come with all the risks of an item thats pre-owned. If the owner took good care of it or it was fixed up properly, then it looks like a cell phone and talks like one. But a product is more likely to have problems with previous ownership and its unfortunate if you have to deal with issues that you had nothing to do with. In the end, you get what you pay for, and when you pay for a refurbished phone youre getting quality thats admittedly inferior to that of a new phone and as good as something that was used.
