Parents rights
I hear a lot of my friends say that parents rights just arent what they used to be. There are cases they know about where the children were taken from the parents and given to other family members. Though there are times when this was the best thing for the children, there were other cases where it was something someone did for spite. This is happening more and more, and as a parent, that is something that can be worrisome. More and more grandparents are raising their kids just because they didnt like the way their children were raising them. To me, that is not right.
When there is a question of abuse, parents rights should be terminated. There is no question there. If a child is in danger, being neglected, or being hit for any reason, it should be automatic that the child be removed from the home and placed with relatives if that is a safe thing to do. However, there are more and more times when the lines have been blurred, and parents rights have been terminated for reasons that would have not held any water twenty years ago.
If your parents rights are in questions, you have to fight for your children. You do have to be realistic about it though. If you know that you have done something to hurt your child, if you have problems with drugs and/or alcohol, or if you leave them home alone when they are too young, it might be for the best that they stay with someone else until you can get your life straightened out. However, if you know you are a good parents, you have to fight for your parents rights, and you have to find a good lawyer to help you out.
If for any reason you lose your parents rights, and there seems to be nothing you can do, keep fighting. Fix what needs to be fixed, and keep at it until they are back in your arms. Remember to be honest about everything. If you neglect to share something that might hurt you, it can go against you. If you are honest, though the things you have done might be iffy, being honest about them and having a plan to correct the problem will always work in your favor. Though there are some judges who seem to want to terminate parents rights rather easily, many still want the children to be with their parents if at all possible.
