Money Gift
There are a lot of people out there who wander around the stores near the holidays and they have no idea what to get for at least half of the people on their list. This happens when it comes times for birthdays, christenings, and other special occasions. You dont have to kill yourself looking for the best gift because a money gift is always welcome. There may be times when you dont want to give money, but when all else fails, it is nice to know the option is out there.
A money gift is really common for weddings, so that is one time when you dont have to think twice about it. More couples are living together before they marry, and many of them dont marry as young as they once did. This is why a money gift often makes more sense. They have everything they need for their home, and if they arent registered anywhere, you may have no idea what to get. Money is always welcome, and it can be used towards a down payment for a house, if they dont have one, a honeymoon, or even be put into savings.
If you are thinking of giving a money gift for Christmas, but cash seems to cold, there are other ways to give money. If someone you know has a prepaid cell phone, you could buy them minutes. If you know they have a favorite store, get them a gift certificate. Though these are not really a money gift, they are very close, and a great way to give them money for something they may want. Gift buying is hard, and everyone understands that.
If you want to give the money gift that keeps on giving, set up a savings account for a child you love, and put money in that account each time a special occasion comes up. They may not understand it much as they grow, but when it comes time to go to college or perhaps move into their first apartment, they are going to appreciate your money gift more than you may ever now. My daughters grandparents are doing this for her, and the money is for her college education. I know one day they will be giving her a very special gift, and it will be a gift to me as well. The pressure to pay for her college will be less for me, and if she needs extra help for any reason, I will have more money left over to help her when she needs it the most.
