Look out for This when making and Using PowerPoint Slides
A Microsoft PowerPoint presentation can be an invaluable tool when it is done just right. In order for a presentation to be effective, it needs to be flexible, easy to understand and set to run at the correct speed in line with the presentation. The way you organize your presentation will determine its effectiveness as well as its impact on the audience.
One of the most important aspects when doing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations is that you must be prepared. Since you will selling something, in one way or another, then you must create selling PowerPoint slides. Take time to know what you will be selling. Is it a concept, a service, your staff, executives or your prospective clients? Your presentations must inspire action from your audience and selling at the same time. There is no shortcut about it; you must know your material. If you do not know your material, your audience will know.
One of the mistakes that most presenters make when doing a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation is to use the slide show as the presentation. That is not the way it should be done. In a good presentation scenario, the presenter, assuming that would be you in this case, should the presentation and the slide show is only an accompaniment to your talk. This means that the slide show should not contain any unnecessary information that would require reading. All of your information should be in bullet points while the rest of the information, the bulky part, should be in your head. The bullet points should only remind you about what you will be talking about.
There is a principle that is usually used in presentations to ensure that you do not have too much information. It is called the K.I.S.S. principle (Keep it Silly Simple). If you want your audience to retain what you say, have three, at the most, four points and expound on those points. You will be amazed how effective your presentation will be. When you take the time to organize your material systematically, you will not find it hard to have a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation that will be highly effective and achieve its objective.
