LG Chocolate
The LG Chocolate phone debuted in 2006 and became widely popular with its built in mp3 player, sleek shape and pretty colors, coming in dark chocolate, white chocolate, strawberry chocolate, mint chocolate, and cherry chocolate (black, white, pink, green and red). Somewhat thicker than most chocolate bars, the LG Chocolate had a rectangular sliding design and included all of the fancy features that are almost a given todaymusic, camera, Bluetooth, Micro SD, texting, miscellaneous tools and the rest of the works. The phone also featured touch activation, eliminating most of the button action. It was no wonder that the LG Chocolate appealed to the masses.
But alas, all cell phones come with their perks and flaws, and the LG Chocolate was no exception. It was a classic example of fashion over functionthe LG Chocolate relied more on style than on practicality. The touch activation was too sensitive even on the lowest sensitivity setting, and slipping the phone into your pocket could result in accidental phone calls and unintentional online browsing. Still, the sound quality of the mp3 player, the big selling point of the LG Chocolate, was excellent and overall it was a pretty sweet phone to have, judging by the 6 million consumers that purchased a unit in 2006.
All cell phones also become obsolete in a fairly short amount of time and since then, the LG Chocolate has undergone a couple of makeovers. The LG Chocolate Spin added a wheel function similar to the iPod and the latest incarnation is the LG Chocolate 3, which interestingly scraps the slider and opts for a smooth clamshell design. Again, this is more of an aesthetic upgrade rather than a practical one and the phone can be quite slippery to hold. Also, reportedly the web browsing and camera arent as high quality as expected from an upgrade. Some critics feel that the phone is too pricy for its offerings. Still, the LG Chocolate 3 is more practical and easy to navigate than its predecessors and its a decent option for consumers who want a stylish, capable phone thats better than the average phone but not too elite. If youre thinking of getting a LG Chocolate, you should consider quality in terms of functionality as well as appearance. Also important to consider is the phone plan that comes with itChocolate phones are exclusive to Verizon, so youll want to look at their phone plans and decide whether theyre right for you.
