How Do I Choose The Right Hair Bands?
Buying hair bands seems like a no brainer, but you may want to think about your choice a bit before you pay for your selection. What you want to use will depend on your hair type and even the look that you are going for. Some stay in the hair and on the head well, and others stay on too well. You want what looks good, is easy to use, and what will not cause any damage to your head. If you wear them often, damage is going to be something that you should really think about no matter how much you like the look of some of the headbands you find in the stores today.
When I was a little girl, most of the hair bands that we used were either headbands that were about an inch wide, or small elastics used to hold in a ponytail. For the most part, I wore the headbands to keep my long curls out of my face, but I did not like the ponytail as much. These inch-wide hair bands did okay in my hair, but the small plastic spikes used on them made them fall out quite often. They were not quite enough to hold on to my curls, though they worked well with those that had straight locks.
When I tried the hair bands again, it was about ten years later. These had tiny loops that went in to hold the hair. Not only did they hold the hair better, they also gave the hair a very neat look. The problem was that this type of hair bands should be warn with caution if you have curly hair. They stayed in almost too well. There were times when I had to take ten or fifteen minutes just to get the band untangled from my curls. These stay well, but are much better for those that have straight or loosely wavy hair.
TodayĆs hair bands are really thick (two inches wide) or very, very thin. They have a variety of different systems for holding the hair in place, and that is what should matter the most when you choose the ones you want to wear. If you have naturally curly hair that gets stuck in some, or is not held well by others, you might want to try the elastic type of hair bands. You have to find the right ones, as some of them do not look good, and they may also slip up the back of your head while you are wearing them.
