Get Irritable Bowel Syndrome Relief Now
One of my favorite pastimes used to be going out to eat with my friends. We would either meet at a different restaurant every Friday night or converge at someone’s house for an evening of great food, fantastic wine, and stimulating conversation. But I haven’t attended one of those outings in about six months now, because I somehow developed irritable bowel syndrome in that time.
I had heard about irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, before I developed symptoms, but wasn’t really sure about the details of the problem. When I first started having digestion issues, such as stomach cramps and chronic diarrhea, I went to my doctor for some tests. He confirmed that I did in fact have IBS, and then broke the bad news that there’s no cure for irritable bowel syndrome at this time. There are some treatments that can help relieve symptoms, but this is more or less something I’m going to have to live with.
But unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find an effective IBS remedy yet, which is why I stopped going to those dinners with my friends. There’s no way I could handle the embarrassment of running to the bathroom every five minutes, with everyone knowing full well exactly what was going on. I’d rather stay home and suffer that kind of indignity in private! Nevertheless, I have to say that I’m getting tired of letting irritable bowel syndrome curb my social life to such an extent, so I’m going to keep trying different treatment options.
What I’ve already tried without much success is changing my diet and taking some low-dose antidepressants that my doctor prescribed. I’ve been avoiding fatty foods, alcohol, and caffeine, all of which can trigger the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, but to no avail. And the antidepressants didn’t help in the least — which didn’t actually bother me that much because I don’t want to be on prescription medication forever anyway.
What I haven’t tried are any of the natural irritable bowel syndrome remedies and treatments that I’ve seen advertised online or at health food stores. These products can provide effective relief for some people because the all-natural ingredients are much gentler on the body and digestive system than drug-based medications. I’ve heard especially good things about products containing mint (like mint tea), fresh lemon juice, fennel, and similar ingredients, so I’m going to try those first. In addition, I read that some people found relief with foods like oatmeal, sourdough bread, and even saltine crackers. Since those are easy enough to obtain from the supermarket, I’ll likely add them to my cart as well.
There’s no question that irritable bowel syndrome is a debilitating condition that can interfere with an active lifestyle. But I think I’ve let IBS have too much control over what I do, and I’m tired of that situation. I need to find effective IBS relief right now so I can go on enjoying myself as I did before.
