Ending A Relationship? Here’s how to do it the right way!

There are always going to be people with which we have to part ways. Though the one example you may think of the most would be a love relationship that has gone wrong, there are many other types of relationships that are not going to work out. You may be ending a relationship forever, or perhaps you think it is best that you and that other person take a break from each other so that you can work through some issues and see where that relationship can then go in the future. None are easy, but you can help things by doing this the right way.

The wrong way to go about ending a relationship with someone you once loved would be to send them an email or a text message. You may be surprised that this has to be said, but people do it all of the time. If you are ending a relationship that has only consisted of a few dates, this might be okay, but it is never the ideal way to do this. You should always offer that person a chance to learn what happened and why you have chosen to move on to something else.

Those long term love relationships are often some of the hardest to end, and you may not even be sure that ending the relationship is the right thing to do. If that is the case, you owe that other person a very complete conversation face to face. Ending a relationship like this is hard, but being the other person is even harder. There may be things you can do to work it out, but perhaps you are ending the relationships for just a period to have some space, but the conversation should still be had and the other person should be able to state how they feel in details.

When it comes to ending a relationship with someone other than a romantic partner, you have to be sure of why you are ending it, and you have to be clear about how and why. If you are not happy with a situation in your extended family, you may want to have some space. You may feel that there is nothing at the present time that can be done to make things better. At times, ending a relationship like this for a short time can really help when it comes time to sort things out. Again, make sure you talk with the person face to face. Donít just avoid them as that will always make things worse.

In general, you want to be clear when you are ending a relationship. If someone has no idea why you did it, or if you donít offer them the conversation that they feel they deserve, you are doing things the most hurtful way that you can. Even if you can not longer stand to be in the same room with someone, ending a relationship of any length in any other way is just being cruel. It may cause you some discomfort, but remember that this person once meant something to you and the least you can do is allow them some information and closure so that they can move on.
