Cheese Graters
There are many things that have been made to make life easier in the kitchen. There are wonderful gadgets out there, but it seems that I can not find any cheese graters that work well and wont bust after I have had them for a few months. Perhaps I am just shopping in the wrong places, but it is often a matter of choosing the less problematic one than finding one that I can live with. They are essential for the kitchen though, so the search for the perfect one is well worth the time.
One of the cheese graters that showed promise was one that was on a lid that attached to the top of a bowl. All you had to do was run the cheese over the grater and it should have fallen into the bowl. There were a few problems with this type of cheese graters. First, the grater was not sharp enough, and it was hard to shred the cheese. Secondly, the cheese piled up under the part of the lid that contained the grater, and wouldnt move around, even when I shook the bowl. However, if I could find one like this with a metal grater, I think I would definitely buy it. The one I had was plastic.
Other cheese graters have worked for a while, but they have always slid around or have broken while in use. The flat type that lies over whatever bowl you may use is helpful, but it is hard to run the cheese across this type of cheese graters without the grater sliding across the bowl as well. That makes it hard to use, but it does do a good job on the cheese. I always find myself frustrated with these, but for right now, it is the type that I am using.
There may very well be great cheese graters that I have yet to find. I havent been looking that hard, because other things take priority, but because I am eating more things with cheese, it is becoming more important. I am going to look around online to see what is out there, and perhaps I will stumble upon something that will work as I need without breaking or being a royal pain to use. If you want something, you may want to do the same thing. You can browse through your favorite stores, but you may end up finding something different when you look on the Internet.
